...James Fields (1926-2008)

After studying for four years at the Kansas City Art Institute, majoring in painting, Mr. Fields graduated in 1950. He has been painting ever since. His paintings are hanging in every state in the union and numerous countries throughout the world.

Before moving to Taos in 1972, James was a member of the St. Louis Artists' Guild and has had many one-man shows across the country. Along with his wife, Russie, he owns and operates the Fields Art Gallery in Taos.

His paintings are traditional and he believes young artists should never forsake the knowledge and teachings of the old masters and never lose sight of order, form, proportion and harmony.
